This is a bit off topic, but vaccination works a lot better if everyone gets it. We are not isolated individuals, we are a community and if everyone gets vaccinated, it is a lot harder for epidemics to occur.
The same thing goes for the outliers that let their bees die from various diseases, it makes it hard on the others that are trying to keep healthy hives. At one time, every state had bee inspection and laws on the books making it illegal to harbor pests. Now, half the states have no inspection, half the pests are not regulated (as there are no reliable control measures).
However, if it came to the point where we could wipe out varroa with an RNA treatment, for example, we would still face the obstacle of people not wanting to do it.
A perfect example would be polio. In my lifetime it has gone from being a dreaded epidemic, to being almost unheard. Thanks to vaccines.
