Rear leg issues were not something we recognized in 2006-2007 when looking at CCD in both coasts and some of the Midwest and Southern states - we did see some Deformed Wing virus. Twitching, etc. sounds more like a paralysis virus. There is evidence of both acute and chronic paralysis viruses in US bees. Some pesticides produce similar twitching signs, but pesticide incidents usually have knockdown at hive, other signs like tongues out, and what Mayer called hoppers.
