Actually, there is much research being done on many pesticides, and fungicides, and herbicides...."all the research" is not focused solely on neonics. Neonicotinoid-type compounds are currently the largest part of the world "market share" in pesticides....so either they are a lot more pricey than the other pesticide poisons, or more of them are in use. It seems to me to be prudent to look very closely at the compounds that are most heavily in use, perhaps do more work on those than on other compounds although obviously we should study all of them. Too bad it's always after the fact, and the environment is always the loser....check out this big AP news story that just came out:
