I read it and all it says is exactly what Allen said more clearly and
succinctly.
In essence, if African HB are involved, it works; all the scientific
studies involving bees other than AHB show it does not work; but (and here
is where the author and Allen differ) there are so many anecdotal successes
that it needs a long term study to see if it works.
Since, for the author, anecdotal evidence seems to carry the same weight as
scientific studies, then add all of us on the list who have tried it and it
did not work. Add my neighbor who has it as an underlying principle for
successful beekeeping and has yet to overwinter one colony. So anecdotal
evidence in Bath Maine is the opposite of any successes elsewhere.
What does come across in every study or anecdotal success shows is it is
not the cell size but something else, usually the bee. Correlation and
causation at work again.
