Mike in LA QUERY: Would the decline of the hives on this flow bee
alleviated with the addition of pollen patties comprised of pollen
collected at other sites that have provided nutritious pollen sources in
the past? i.e. With the addition of pollen patties hives could remain on
the honey flow with the addition of pollen patties?
At least in Chile that is not always the case, but the main problem is
again varroa. If you add pollen patties during the main flow for sure you
can extend the are with brood but at the same time is when you have more
absolute varroa load and this is a great incentive to increase even further.
One need to knock varroa first then give the pollen patties.
How do you knock varroa when in the flow?
