ISEN-ASTC-L is a service of the Association of Science-Technology Centers
Incorporated, a worldwide network of science museums and related institutions.

Typically, minor first-aid is covered by the Good Samaritan act. If staff is regularly and routinely designated, it's possible to incur liability. We did Red-Cross first aid training, and provided rudimentary things like bandages and access to soap and water. We've essentially abandon the program at this point in favor of leaving it to the visitors for minor stuff and calling 911 for major stuff. We've never lost a visitor that I know of.

Are your science center and/or museum floor staff approved to provide basic supplies likes band-aids and cold packs? If they do so, do they also have first-aid training? Or do you have security staff designated to respond to all injuries?
