Archaeo-listers,

I recently heard from our old friend Jim Bruseth, who has been serving
as Guest Curator for the La Belle exhibit at the Texas State History
Museum in Austin.

Jim invites all who happen to be planning to visit Austin to come on by
to watch, in person, the crew of specialists re-assemble the ship,
piece-by-piece (and get an up-close view of the hundreds of fabulous
artifacts recovered from the cargo in the hold of the ship that are on
view in the museum).

When completed the restored ship will occupy the place of honor in the
main rotunda of the museum, which, incidentally, was designed expressly
to hold this internationally significant ship, and, for those who have
not, yet, been fortunate enough to have visited, let me assure you, it
DOES live-up to Texas standards of size and grandeur, and certainly has
the splendor to adequately showcase this magnificently BIG Texas exhibit.

There is a webcam that broadcasts live and shows the crew as they work
on the ship (Wednesdays thru Saturdays 9am-5pm ... and I believe it is
currently paused for the holiday but will re-commence LIVE on this
coming Wednesday morning at 9am) that can be found/watched at this link:
