The Tennessee Division of Archaeology is pleased to announce the Tennessee Department of Human Resources website will begin accepting applications for our vacant Archaeologist 1 position on Wednesday, July 30, 2014. The application period will be open for two weeks only.

This is a full-time, preferred service position with benefits that will be based in Nashville. Starting annual salary will be $29,832 ($2486/month). The starting salary could potentially increase based on education and experience.

The primary responsibility of this position will be to support and assist the Site File Curator through a variety of tasks that include: data entry, correction of existing and creation of new GIS data, processing site forms and assigning site numbers, and maintenance of the Division site information and report files. This position will also provide assistance to the Federal and State Review programs as needed, and complete other tasks as assigned by the Division director.

The preferred candidate will have some GIS proficiency, as well as experience in southeastern US archaeology (prehistoric or historic). In addition, the preferred candidate should possess good organization, time management, and people skills.
