With all the palaver you folks are doing I think you need to understand a couple of things about Texas.
You can't see everything in one day or even a week.
When you come to Austin you are going to be in the center of Texas History.
You are going to have HIGH PRICES and horrible traffic.
You will actually see very few REAL LIVE TEXANS. They have been run out by lawyers, politicians as well as every foreign entity you can imagine.
Real Texas Towns , locally, are Georgetown, Taylor, Bastrop, Fredricksburg, San Antone, Boerne, Belton, New Braunfels and dozens of small communities. (Not responsible for spelling)
Salado is really New York on the Creek. High prices on everything.
There's Houston, 150+ miles, Ft Worth-Dallas, 170 miles, Lubbuck, where the West really shows up, 2 days or 1 very long day there.
Those of us (native Texans) are proud to have you and the SHA come to Austin. Welcome! It's an honor.
Be sure and wear your boots cause it really gets deep sometimes. We do have two types of cowboys though, Drug store and real ones.
I believe, though, you will find tons of things to do in town.
David T. Parkhill, Austin
