>Perhaps we need a biometrician.
Or simple practical experience. We split every hive 5 ways every year,
swap frames throughout the season, never wash a hive tool. If we find AFB,
we burn the frames and hot tank the woodware. We occasionally shake the
bees onto foundation to save them.
We haven't used any antibiotic prophylactically for a decade, and only spot
treat with OTC on occasion if indicated for EFB or next to an AFB hive.
Our incidence of AFB runs about 3 hives per 1000.
