About snow, bee hives and barn roofs; fresh snow (not compacted) weighs 1/10 or 1/12 as much as an equivalent depth of water. Water weighs ~60# per cubic foot. Snow weighs about 5 or 6# per cubic foot. So call it 10# per square foot that's two feet deep (as observed). Snow weight is distributed over the roof surface.
Hives are heavier, denser, and concentrated load. Bee careful.
