We looked at this, as did Tucson.  Basic fact  - only a  small percentage 
of beekeepers with CCD fed HFC.  There were occasional  beekeepers with bad 
syrup - some from a distributor, others from bad handling  and storage 
practices.  Certainly wouldn't help, but its not the cause of  CCD.
 
If you use HFC, don't store in tanks in sun, don't pour good syrup on top  
of rancid syrup, don't mix or hold in steel tanks, and lastly, don't heat 
your  syrup to make it pour faster.  Metal and heat drive the reaction that 
forms  HMF.
