Have you ever downloaded a DAACS Cataloging Manual or used DAACS cataloging protocols in your analysis or research? Have you ever clicked on "Query the Database" at daacs.org? Do you plan on attending the Society for Historical Archaeology conference in Washington, DC January 6-9?

If you answered YES to any of these questions and want to learn more about the project and the archive, sign up for the DAACS SHA workshop "Doing Research and Teaching with the Digital Archaeological Archive of Comparative Slavery".  On Wednesday, January 6, we are hosting a day-long, interactive workshop where participants will not only learn how to navigate the website, but also get hands-on experience using the archive and the data it contains.  In addition, the workshop will focus on the essentials of teaching and doing research with DAACS. The hosts and guest speakers will alternate research and teaching case studies with hands-on activities to ensure that each participant engages fully with the archive.

Participants will also get the chance to submit research questions or problems in advance of the workshop, which will be incorporated into the workshop. Participants will leave with a strong working knowledge of DAACS's content, research, and teaching possibilities, as well as handouts and sample syllabi for continued work with the archive. Participants are asked to bring a laptop with MS Excel.  There will also be a few laptops available for participants to share.
