Hi Anne,

If you're looking for a cheap, quick, facilitated activity, homopolar motors
are lots of fun:

If you want more of a stand alone permanent exhibit, eddy current damping of
non-ferrous metal's motion is fun. There are lots of ways you can implement
it. Swinging metal that stops without touching anything, an aluminum saw
that you push and pull through the gap of a large permanent magnet, drop
tubes and falling magnets, etc.

If any of those sound interesting to you, I'd be happy to talk more about
them.
