Hi All,
Maiolica vessels are almost always described as wheel thrown.
Yet among certain types – Tumacacori Polychrome (Azul Punche), and what is known as Molded Blue on White in Texas / and Late Blue on White in Florida / or San Augustin Blue on White in California – the rims are described as molded and the vessel shapes appear to be closer to Euro American soup plates than the open bowl Soperos.
Were these later type “molded rim” vessels made on a potters wheel, or molded, or a combination of both?
Thank you in advance,
S. Walter
