Here is an announcement and description of this Year's Archaeology in Annapolis Field School. Please distribute to students who may be interested. If you would like a pdf of the flyer, please contact Tracy Jenkins at [log in to unmask] Thanks.

DESCRIPTION:
The Archaeology in Annapolis Project at the University of Maryland invites you to be a part of our 2016 archaeological field school! The intensive, six-week field school devotes eight hours daily to supervised on-site archaeological excavation and research. This summer, we will be excavating in downtown Annapolis and Easton, Maryland. Students will have the opportunity to take part in field school excavations in two distinct contexts: the eighteenth-century urban home of one of Maryland’s elite and on The Hill in Easton, a free community of color dating back decades before the end of slavery in the state. Students are responsible for contributing to field work, lab work, and reading discussions. This is a chance to take archaeology out of the classroom and see what it is really like.

TUITION AND FEES:
Students who are currently enrolled at the University of Maryland, College Park can sign up for the program through Testudo. Application information for non-UMCP students can be found online at www.summer.umd.edu.

We are pleased to offer in-state tuition rates to all students, regardless of their state of residence. Interested students must register for either ANTH 496: Field Methods in Archaeology Sec XI11, (six undergraduate-level academic credits), ANTH 696: Field Methods in Archaeology Sec XI11, (six graduate-level academic credits), or a summer workshop.

LOGISTICS:
The field school meets daily in the field for approximately eight hours a day, Monday through Friday, for six weeks. The daily starting time will change slightly over the course of the summer depending on the weather and students should be flexible. Students are responsible for their own transportation to the excavation site and living accommodations in the area, although transportation will be facilitated to and from College Park each day.
