A marked cast lead powder canister cap is from California Powder Works,
Santa Cruz was found at the Martinez Adobe in Pinole California. The
excavation report has not been published. Priscilla Wegars was the field
director.
The cast lead powder can screw cap bears the markings "CPW" over "SC" and
is somewhat similar to one recovered at Kolmakovskiy Redoubt (Oswalt
1980:50-51). A great history of the California Powder Works has been
electronically published by Barry Brown, 2008, as a Self-Guided Walking
Tour and is also available on the internet @
