Perhaps what George Miller refers to as "liquid gold"? (1870 - present)

Subject: gold rim decoration on ceramics
Does anyone know when the use of gold banding started being used to
decorate refined earthenwares? Not fancy decoration, but just the
"standard" gold rims we often see on a variety of tablewares?
Thanks in advance for your help!
