Our storiescome from across the globe, ranging from North America to every othercontinent. Check it out!
Our first Strata edition is for October 2014. In this episode wepresent “Sailing Canoe,” a new film by Adam Thompson following the efforts ofpeople across Micronesia to re-learn the art of sailing canoes. It traces theconnections of people from Guam and Rota to Yap and the outer islands ofMicronesia that once were connected by long-distance canoe voyages. Moderndevelopment has affected each island differently and each struggles in its ownway to maintain its ancient heritage. From the most urbanized islands to themost remote and traditional, the art of sailing canoes survives through theefforts of a few knowledgeable people.
