Many, if not most, websites these days are created using content management systems (CMS) - familiar types include Wordpress, Joomla, Drupal, etc. These use a template to generate pages, and if the template is modified (to include an address and telephone number at the bottom of each page, for instance), every page in the site "inherits" that change. It's an easy modification, and you don't have to edit every page individually.
I've always been an advocate of setting up web pages so that if someone prints one out, the name and contact information for the organization appear on the printout somewhere. Still thinking in terms of organizing information on paper, I know, but lots of us still do…
