Have you checked out HOWTOSMILE recently?

Howtosmile.org is an online collection of fun, high quality, hands-on STEM activities developed by trusted educators from museums, agencies, community-based groups, public television stations, and others with a focus on out-of-school education. Since its official launch in October, 2010, the Howtosmile inventory has grown to include over 1200 high quality activities; the community of users includes thousands of people with a broad range of educational needs.

Want to learn about how to use this resource? Starting this month, ASTC Connect will host a series of online workshops to help you explore Howtosmile.org. The first session runs from Feb 14-18 and will lead you through the basics: creating your user profile, searching the collection, and assembling lists that help you find the right activities for your needs.

This workshop is sponsored by the Howtosmile project, and is free to participants. It will run through asynchronous threaded text discussions that come to you in your email so that you can participate on your own schedule and level of commitment. To enroll, send an email to Margaret Glass ([log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]>) with "SMILE online" as the subject line. You will be automatically included on the introductory email for the workshop.

Howtosmile.org is funded by the National Science Foundation as part of the National Science Digital Library (NSDL), and is a joint project of UC Berkeley's Lawrence Hall of Science, the Exploratorium, the New York Hall of Science, Science Museum of Minnesota, Children's Museum of Houston, and the Association of Science-Technology Centers.
