Back in the late 1980s I conducted a 100% survey of Fort Lee, VA for MAAR Associates (later MAI). We found numerous WWI training trenchworks across the landscape. Sorry, I don't have the references handy. I also surveyed Ft. Eustis, VA. They had long range WWI era coastal gun range and target areas including observation towers.
