Susan,
Thanks for the suggestion. I have a bunch of opium tins from my collection, but they are much smaller and open with pull-tabs, so I'm not too sure it is an opium tin.
Emily

Hi Emily,
You have an opium tin in the 2nd & 3rd photos; it looks like the top has
been purposely cut out and may have been used as a "funs" tray. Or perhaps
that is the opening? My opium tins always were opened by pulling off the
lid.

Anyone else out there agree or not?

I'd love to help you further, but I'm having trouble staying on photo
bucket.
You might try the Asian American Comparative Collection in Moscow Idaho,
Priscilla Wegars.

Good luck.

S. Walter

Subject: Artifact Assistance (again)

Thanks to everyone who helped me identify some of my unknown artifacts from
19th and 20th century Nevada Chinese woodcutting camps. I had a lot of help
with horse tack and tools. If you are better with domestic, personal, or
ceramic artifacts, I could still use some help! Please feel free to take a
look at these artifact photos and let me know if you recognize any of them.
