By the way, I am not saying some things are wrong, simply because they are against the law. Laws can be wrong, too.

What I would say is wrong is to put untried and/or possibly dangerous chemicals into hives. You are risking the health of the bees and the honey consumer, and the reputation of beekeeping in general, all in one fell swoop. Let somebody else experiment. There are viable alternatives available.

Finally, I agree that generic formic and oxalic are an exception to this whole line of thinking. They should not be prohibited in the US and I would support changes to legislation to move in that direction.
