Dear Histarcher's
On Friday, June 22, the personal research library of f the late Ivor Noel Hume (1927-2017), distinguished scholar, author, and former director of the Department of Archaeological Research at Colonial Williamsburg will be auctioned. With volumes ranging from the 17th to 21st centuries, this represents one of the finest archaeological research libraries in private hands.
Bidding is available online and the auction house ships throughout the world. It is a wonderful opportunity to own one of Noel's many research volumes or even one of his first edition publications.
Can you imagine owning Noel's own copy of "Colonial Artifacts" or "Historical Archaeology"?
We had many discussions on the placement of his books, and the family thought that he would most appreciate passing on his treasured volumes to others that would find use for them.
Even if you don't bid, it is worth browsing the immense catalog of his holdings to better appreciate Noel's own incredible legacy of scholarship and research.
