I'd guess the ceramic artifacts are decorative stamps for sealing letters
with pressed hot wax. Go to Google Images and search for 'antique ceramic
wax seals.'

Subject: Help with Unidentified Artifacts

Can anyone identify the two aretifacts below? The two artifacts are circular
discs of clay with stamped or impressed designs. One appears to be a
Canadian Goose in flight, and the other has two cardinals facing each other
with some sore of flowering bush between them. The reverse side is worn and
more or less destroyed.
