Hi everyone: Just wanted to make sure you knew about two really great webinars in our schedule for this month and one coming up in April. Please pass these along--

Feb 13th: Teaching with Non-fiction Text
Jessica Fries-Gaither, author of the NSTA bestseller, Inquiring Scientists, Inquiring Readers: Using Nonfiction to Promote Science Literacy will show us how to integrate nonfiction text such as textbooks, reference guides, and other sources with an intentional approach that lends itself to inquiry and the learning cycle. While her focus is on grades 3-5, the ideas she will present apply to any grade level for teachers looking to integrate science literacy strategies.

There is no cost to participate, but registration required.

Feb 28th: Mighty Mastodons and Massive Mastodons
The Ice Age titans are making their way to Denver, giving us an opportunity to learn more about these cousins of modern-day elephants. You'll receive a special briefing from Museum scientist Ian Miller on the Snowmastodon Project and what this unprecedented discovery is telling us about this significant period in Earth history. Museum educator Samantha "Samammoth" Richards will also dispel some common myths of the Ice Age by featuring highlights from the Mammoth and Mastodons: Titans of the Ice Age exhibition.

Coming in April: Lynn Erickson, international speaker and consultant on Concept-based Learning teaching approaches. This is a great approach in integrating big ideas in science or science standards into programming.

Kindest regards,
Robert
