  I would also like to add that a "receptor" has no function other that to initiate a signaling pathway, so you are correct that the "receptor" response to a given ligand is the same, but the location and actual downstream pathway determine the outcome of receptor engagement.  And as I pointed out, that can vary wildly based on location.  Mark
