Most of those studies used  levels higher than in nectar, some by a factor
of 20 or more. When realistic doses were used, there were no apparent
problems. The researchers had to up the dose to see what would happen.

Exactly my point with the CO2 studies. CO2 causes almost the same symptoms as reported for a variety of toxic compounds. Yet, no one takes seriously my contention that the recent steep increase in atmospheric CO2 is responsible for the decline in bees and other beneficial insects. One would have to look at in-hive concentrations of CO2, as well, before ruling it out as a factor.
