Many thanks for that. I do not see any bad effects, although some colonies
will propolise the queen excluder in the immediate area of the lid; oddly,
this seems to happen more with yellower bees rather than black native ones -
I would have expected it to be the other way around given the propensity of
the many darker strains to gather propolis.
Peter, as I recall, you evaporate crystals in metal lids above the
cluster. Could you please elaborate on your method?
