Call me a pedant, but there's no such thing as 'bottom supering' as 
'super' is Latin for 'upon'.  If you put a box beneath, it is a 'nadir' 
and so the heading of this thread should be changed to 'Nadiring'!

A few weeks before dandelion time (although I have seen 1 already this 
year), about willow blosson time when the bees have some income, I 
harvest surplus honey from my bees.  I know it's surplus because, if 
they haven't used it by then, they didn't need it; and I know it's 
honey because I don't feed sugar.  Also, with top bar hives, you 
neither super nor nadir!  Saves a lot of back ache.
