All historical archaeologists should attend SHA Annual Conferences.
The one in Quebec will, I predict, be outstanding. The arguments being
made against attending such meetings are fallacious. None of these
"monies" will go into jobs, research, or preservation.

Many past SHA Boards, Presidents, and conference organizers have tried
over the years to hold down costs and help those who are not funded,
including students, attend. It is a difficult problem.

Yes, the world is changing but nothing matches an annual meeting for
interaction and seeing actual people, colleagues and the younger
generation.

Bob Schuyler

P.S. I missed the last two SHA Meetings (Baltimore and England) for
health reasons. I will be in Quebec, Seattle, Washington D.C. and we
should all be planning for the 50th anniversary meeting (2017) coming
up in Dallas-Fort Worth where SHA was initially established in January
1967.
