Apologies for cross posting
Wondering of anyone can help with ideas about what the attached objects might be. They come from the University of Melbourne Archives, possibly collected in the 1970s-80s by Frank Strahan, possibly from Melbourne University engineering, chemistry, geology or other department, or from a business that also donated company papers. Unfortunately there are no accession details to go with them.
The first is described as "Rock Over Gauge"<http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_GY2AMVMkopU/TPRf9hrnb6I/AAAAAAAAAC8/bvOUvLJVOXE/s1600/UO39.%2Brock%2Bover%2Bgauge.jpg> and is about 1.5m long with a timber box containing several timber rods.
T he other is a group of metal rods,<http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_GY2AMVMkopU/TPRgDdOKhZI/AAAAAAAAADE/HH7FOoDy7HU/s1600/UO84.jpg> some with turned ends, and two metal rings with wires attached (welded or soldered) I am trying to find out what the writing on a couple is.
I will add some more photos to my blog <http://australianarchaeology.blogspot.com/> when I get them
thankyou in anticipation.
