Hi Pat,

I excavated the Ehler site (12HU1022), a portion of the Miami village at
the Forks of the Wabash burned by American forces in September 1812.
The report (see below) is on file with the Indiana DHPA. I published an
article on the site, "The Silenced Miami: Archaeological and
Ethnohistorical Evidence for Miami-British Relations, 1795-1812," in
Ethnohistory 46(3):399-427.

Mann, Rob (1996) Archaeological Excavations at the Ehler Site
(12-Hu-1022): An Early 19th-Century Miami Indian Habitation Site Near
the Forks of the Wabash, Huntington County, Indiana. Report of
Investigation 95IN0062-P3r01, Landmark Archaeological and Environmental
Services, Inc., Sheridan, Indiana.

Also, Mark Wagner at SIU-Carbondale has done quite a bit of recent work
on War of 1812-era Native American sites.

Subject: War of 1812 Sites in the Western Lake Erie Region

Looking for the facts of publication on excavated historical sites
related
to the War of 1812 (CRM reports, published monographs, and journal
articles). Sites may be Military and non-military (domestic) impacted by
the
War of 1812. The area of focus is the U.S. and Canada on both sides of
the
Detroit River, and as far south as northern Ohio. Definitely not looking
for
publications on the history of the War of 1812 or its battles. Any
assistance will be greatly appreciated.
