Hi Sam, sounds interesting- what site is it? There are several articles,
including Brook Farm and other utopian communities in Hist Arch vol. 40,
No. 1, edited by Thad Van Bueren. My article in the issue is on the roles
and status of women and men in several different communes and the evidence
from arrangement of foundations on landscapes indicating degree of
cooperative housekeeping/communalism versus individual households. I
discuss fourierist communes and their attractions for women, including
paying higher wages, though still not equal with men's wages.
