Mike Asked: If there are others, how do they compare in production?

All my other colonies within 2 miles of this colony are producing well, but less by many dozen pounds. It could be the density of the colonies in the other yards. It may be others in the area not just my own, we have no inspector in our county so everything on the Ohio side of the border is like the wild west.. Lots of bees around here.

Allen: Aggressive hive, four years in, been aggressive from the start. This colony has been a deliberate attempt to allow unlimited brood space as per Dee Lusby and to see if single hives have less problems with mites. Not much science behind it, just seeing how long it will run it course before it succumbs. The fact that it is aggressive is purely luck and nothing deliberate on my part (other than allowing it to remain that way).

I've stopped doing small yards because of the cost in time and travel.
