Archaeologists from the US Navy and State of Maryland are currently diving on a War of 1812 era shipwreck in the Patuxant River. The wreck is certainly part of Commodore Joshua Barney's Chesapeake flotilla, which was scuttled to avoid British capture in 1814. It is our hope that it is Barney's flagship, the USS Scorpion. Learn more about our underwater investigation on our blog http://www.scorpionarchaeology.blogspot.com/. Also follow us on Facebook under "Search for the USS Scorpion".
