Hello everyone,
My first hive this year failed due to a fall surge in varroa that I should have noticed but didn't and ultimately succumbed to a combination of the mites and DWV. With the help of Robert Mackimmie who brought me some frames of brood and bees and helped me get the last of my hive and the queen into an nuc for the winter. Looking at the frames from the deep while we were doing the transfer another beekeeper noticed the brood frames were dark. As I remember they were dark prior to the varroa problem. These are from undrawn Ritecell frames started this year.
Do dark frames in the first year indicate anything or is it a random thing depending on where your bees forage and your area? Mark
