To me the two are essentially synonymous--the degree of honey production is
a result of the final calculus of overall colony health (granted there may
be selective pressure in unmanaged populations for small colony size).  The
only question in breeding, then, was whether beekeeper inputs (e.g.,
miticides or antibiotics) were required to maintain that degree of health.
