That could be a bit tricky sometimes. The list of "authors" could get long. Exhibits are often developed by teams made up of many individuals. Museum staff may be working with a design firm which might be hiring an outside "developer" and then there are all the advisors, fabricators, etc. In my 25+ years there are only a handful of exhibit components I could point to and say "That one was all mine." I guess you could do the Et al. thing but how would you decide who the lead author was?
I would think the name of the museum should suffice along with the exact name of the item being cited (XXX component, of the XXX exhibit), city, country, and the date it opened to the public. Any interested party can contact the museum to track down team members as needed.
And as mentioned above I would use the date it officially opened to the public. That would be the closest to a publishing date.
