per, hadn't heard of the big mac index: for what its worth, here's the link
to npr's transcript and a link back to The Economist, and more info on the
index: http://www.npr.org/programs/atc/features/2002/apr/burgernomics/
I was lucky to attend the American Children's Museum conference in New
Orleans recently and heard much discussion related not to the index (which
gives comparative data on currency exchange rates between countries), but to
pricing for families vis-a-vis mcdonalds: the cost for a family of 4 to eat
at mcdonalds seemed to be the price break for reaching people who had less
disposable income and for whom a family trip to mcdonalds would be a treat,
rather than an everyday occurence.
