Since I have a day job I go a bit more for convienence than anything. I
have a bunch of old used deep boxes I don't use anymore. I screwed on some
bottoms (with reduced entrances and tops and place a couple old combs and
empty frames in them. I try to place them facing South or East up in trees
around the neighborhood and a couple a good distance away at some
relatives' houses that will keep an eye on them for me. I use lemon grass
oil for a lure, I find a short piece of pex with cotton in either end holds
the smell well. This year I figured out a better system for hanging them
that is a lot less hassle, but I have more hangers to build yet (ran out of
old 2x4s). I've had traffic at them investigating fairly regularly, but
that's about it. I've been meaning to try nuc boxes for a smaller
alternative, but I never seem to have any extra. I'll be trying to get
them all back up here the first week in April, when I have a little time,
didn't think to take any pics.

There's a lot of people that post for swarm calls in the area, but I've
been working on my networking. I have a buddy that has better connections
than me (and a lot more hives), he sends cutouts my way. I've also got my
name in at a tree service that I retrieved a log from late last year.
Swarms calls have all been friends and relatives, with the exception of the
one that closed down a track meet at the high school I teach at =).
