Sorry if that came out wrong, I am hardly a fan of varroa, nor do I think
it is impossible to control. I personally feel that breeding is the only
real eventual solution. You want varroa to be a minor nuisance like
chalkbrood etc. Well IMHO synthetics are not the answer then. Do you have
a rotation of treatments to control chalkbrood? As long as you are
controling them with something added they will always be a problem and you
will always be putting something else in the hive. I'm not saying that
miticides are bad or wrong, but I don't believe that any of them, or any
rotation of them will be a permanent answer. IMO they are a stopgap to
keep the bees alive until they can evolve into a balance with varroa, which
of course will take longer the more chemicals we dump into the hive.
