I found the issue to simply be that the entire web address was not as a hyperlink when the address extended past a line of text. I copied the full address such as http://marketstreet.stanford.edu/wp-content/uploads/2012/10/MSCAP-TR2-CS-Henry-Have-Eaten-Yet.pdf and pasted that into the address bar of the browser. All opened fine with that technique.
