I use 3/4" MDO (medium density overlay) plywood for my covers, hot tanked
in 3:1 142F paraffin:ww gum rosin. No paint. They last for many years.
They do conduct heat pretty well from the top of the cover to the
underside, but not that much more than 3/4" pine, as determined by IR
thermometer pointed at the top and bottom when exposed to summer sunlight.
Yes, I understand that the temperatures of the surfaces are not a direct
measurement of conductivity.
