So how difficult is it to get beta acids from hops.  What part of the plant
do they use, the hop itself?

I assume you cannot just sit down with a hive and share a good hop beer
with them, but I can't think of a more beekeeper and bee friendly
treatment.

Stan, who is hot and sore after the first day pulling honey and is going to
relax with a cold beer and google beta acids.
