Mike in LA asked:-

" Reportedly, Ozzies have been known to pull hives off good flows
which lack good pollen due to the cost in terms of bee life and vigor.

QUERY: Would the decline of the hives on this flow bee alleviated with the
addition of pollen patties comprised of pollen collected at other sites that
have provided nutritious pollen sources in the past? i.e. With the addition
of pollen patties hives could remain on the honey flow with the addition of
pollen patties?"

Short answer....Yes....and in fact some of us here in Western Australia have
done that. But the pollen has to be irradiated, which is expensive, and can
only occur at plants on the east coast of Oz, so it has not been the popular
choice, especially when there are alternative honey flows to migrate to.

PeterD
In Western Australia, which has approx half the land mass of Oz and less
than 10% of its human population, even counting the fly in-fly out miners
from the east!
