All,

As there was a great deal of discussion about 3D tech last week, I thought I'd post my review of a tool that was sent to me by the folks at ArqBall. It is called ArqSpin, and it is an iPhone app that does 3D capturing. it works best with a product they are currently raising money for, which is a revolving turntable called a "stage". They sent me a prototype this weekend, and I spent some time "spinning" some of the artifacts at Historic St. Mary's City (thanks to Silas Hurry and Ruth Mitchell for letting me play).

Anyway, I had a blast playing with it. The tool is sturdy, and I think it has great applications for digital cultural heritage. It will cost $80 retail, but you can get it for free with a $60 contribution to their kickstarter campaign: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/860917639/arqball-spin-3d-for-everyone?ref=web

I'll happily field any questions here or on the blog post!

best,

Terry
