My name is Dave McMahan. I am State Archaeologist and Deputy SHPO in
Alaska (http://dnr.alaska.gov/parks/oha/). I received BA and MA degrees
from the University of Tennessee, where I did fieldwork during the 1970s
and early 1980s prior to moving to Alaska.  Beyond review and
compliance, my background and interests include the archaeology of
colonial Russian America, archaeological microscopy, marine archaeology,
and human remains issues.  Through a reimbursable services agreement, I
provided forensic anthropology consultation to the State Medical
Examiner for the last 20 years.  I have been a DMORT team member since
2003. I've worked on a broad range of sites in Alaska, including several
collaborative underwater projects with NOAA.  In recent years I've been
PI on several grants that focused on U.S.-Russian collaborative projects
(excavations at 17th-19th century sites, workshops, conferences) in

With so many new and old friends signing on to HISTARCH in the last few
weeks, I think introductions are needed. I'll start:

I am Anita Cohen-Williams, your friendly list owner and bouncer of
Histarch. I have a BA in Anthropology and a Masters in Library Science.
I have been running Histarch since 1994 as a discussion list on
historical archaeology. I also run ArchaeoSeek
