Thought that was one of the points I was making.  Who cares about the genetic structure?  It's how easy the bees are to handle/work and how much danger they are to the inhabitants around them that is the crux of the matter.  I have a hive, and a buddy has a hive that are just plain mean.  After the honey comes off, and we have queen replacements, the old queens are history.  If it's not fun to  work them, why have them around?
